This was a title sequence which I created for a module at university. This brief was designed in collaboration with Alchemy Studio so I was able to create - and get feedback from an industry leader in Title Design. I worked individually to create a sequence which captured the allure of the Blade Runner Universe, taking inspiration from the original movie and its sequel.
As this was a university project, I wanted to push myself by combining 2D and 3D animation whilst keeping the '80s futuristic aesthetic.

Since most of the sequence is supposed to take place in a CRT monitor, I was able to explore and experiment with different techniques to create an old, yet somewhat futuristic look for the final piece. This was achieved by using a mix of dot grids, scan lines, and ghost frames.
The 3D city which I created for the end title card went through many renditions - from blocky buildings with a lack of detail, to colour changes. This was to ensure that I could evolve and improve the look of the city whilst achieving a similar look and feel as the original Blade Runner.
The first couple of versions were good to get the base of the city down. Once I was able to do this, I recoloured the city and added more detail and building designs to introduce more variety into the city.
